The Little Things That Make You Love Your Headshot!
Most people think a great headshot is all about the camera (yes, my baby!) or the lighting.
Both are important, but they are only part of it.
The little things are what make the difference.
Before we ever start taking pictures, we have already had your complimentary consultation, so you know what to expect. When you arrive for your session, we will go over everything one more time. You will have time to change, check your hair, make sure everything looks the way you want it, and then we will get started.
I do not believe in rushing my sessions.
I want you to enjoy the experience. After all, this session is about you, not me.
I love to talk and laugh together and listen to the music you enjoy. I have discovered some great artists that way and still listen to many of them today.
I like getting to know the person standing in front of my camera. The more we talk, the more I get a feel for your personality. I do not want every client to leave with the same expression. I want your headshot to look like you!
I photograph tethered, which means your images appear on my laptop as we shoot. We look at them together throughout the session, not just at the end. That way, we can make small adjustments as we go until we find the image you love.
When you step in front of the camera, I will start watching the little things.
I often tell my clients that, "Everything moves in millimeters, not inches."
That sounds maybe strange, but it really does.
Standing taller, relaxing your shoulders, shifting your weight a little, or moving your head forward, everything will make a difference in the final image. Since we are looking at the images while we are shooting, you will understand the difference all of this will make.
Nothing I mention will be a big movement, because most of the time, it is the smallest adjustments that make the biggest difference.
Let’s not forget that we are all different, and not everything will work for everyone. That is why my posing will be adjusted the way it works for each individual.
If you follow my Social Media, I have mentioned before that I do not believe everyone has to smile if that is not who they are. After all, when someone meets you after they see your image, I want them to know you immediately.
I believe that my job is to find what works best for you and that is why we look at the images together. I want to know what you like. There are times when you like an image right away. Other times I will look at the screen and tell you “to just do one more.”
Why? Because I notice that you prefer one side of your face, or that one expression feels more like you.
Maybe all we need is one more millimeter.
I always tell you when you chose the image, do you like it, or do you love it? I want you to imagine using that professional headshot on your website, LinkedIn profile, Google Business Profile, or in your marketing.
When someone sees that photograph, does it feel like you and will you be proud to use it?
